We Fly South for the Winter
As we learned that some extreme cold (to us, anyway) was coming and bringing single-digit temperatures to the area, we decided we had better learn how to prepare our RV and ourselves for the ordeal. We should have known this much earlier, but we found out that our RV is not a four-season camper! It would be almost impossible to protect it from frozen pipes, water tank, and holding tanks in temps that low. So we did the only honorable thing: we chickened out and flew south. All the way to Bonners Ferry, 30 whole miles south. On Saturday, the day the first freezing temps were expected, we winterized the RV by draining the tanks and running RV antifreeze through the pipes and hot water heater.
So now we’re living in first a room and later a cabin at the Log Inn a couple of miles north of Bonners Ferry. Son and family are still up on the property in a more hardy RV and we are going up on days when it isn’t raining or snowing too heavily to continue the construction process. We got a few inches of snow yesterday in Bonners Ferry and we were hoping to provide a photo of snow-covered fields for your viewing entertainment, but there wasn’t as much snow on the property, so please enjoy this photo of our dogs instead.
