We’re Moving (Sorta)
So it’s been awhile since we’ve posted about our adventure. But that doesn’t mean we’re not still having adventures. They’re just not as common as when we first got into this project. Now we’re mostly into day-to-day living, so we’re changing our orientation somewhat. “Stan and Mary’s Excellent Adventure” is more of an activity and we’ve been looking for something that sounds more like a place, a home, rather than adventurous activities. We’ve settled on the name “Our Happy Homestead”, which will be expressed in videos, short and long, on YouTube and TikTok, and maybe others as time goes on. We will keep this blog for narrative, but use the others for “show and tell.” After talking with various people, it seems there is an interest in how we do everyday living, such as filling our water cistern, building a shed, dealing with composting toilets, etc.
So, if you’d like to check out our YouTube and TikTok channels, here are the links:

One big adventure we had happened a week ago with the big aurora caused by the huge Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from the sun. It was almost as bright as a full moon outside (normally, it’s so dark here that we need headlamps to walk around outside at night). Here are two pictures from our front yard that night. Also, there is a timelapse video at the links above. There is also a long timelapse of a starry night with soothing music to relax by at the YouTube link. More to come!

I suppose you’re enjoying yourselves.
My biggest problem with doing what you’ve done is I run out of energy too quickly and I don’t get much done.
Are you close enough to medical facilities that you can be taking care of in a timely manner?
We’re having a great time! Life is a continuous adventure. I have no intention of retiring, only to sit around and wait until I die. Every day I have meaningful work/play to do: cutting and splitting wood, building a shed, working in the garden with Mary, shooting in the old quarry that’s a 10 minute walk away, hiking in the Selkirks, re-establishing my observatory, etc. I’ve lost weight, gained strength, and never felt better. Medical facilities? A mere 30 miles away! Everybody dies eventually. I tell people that I expect to be found at 100+ years old in the woods dead next to the grizzly bear that I killed while it was killing me!
Absolutely and stunningly beautiful!!
Thanks!
