Local Adventure
Son Keith bought a wood stove from a company in Libby, Montana, so Mary and Stan drove over there with the trailer to pick it up. Not literally “pick it up,” since it weighs 450 pounds! Wow! It’s intended to keep us warm, or at least not frozen, in the pole barn through the winter. On the way back from Libby, we stopped at the Kootenai Falls and Swinging Bridge for a picnic lunch and a short hike.
After lunch we drove to a place we knew about south of Troy, Montana, where a guy has several “slash piles” containing many good logs that were cut about a year ago to fill up most of the trailer that wasn’t already holding the wood stove with logs that we cut. We brought those back to cut into stove length and split. Next stop was the Pro-X hardware and building supply in Bonners Ferry to get materials for building a form for pouring a concrete slab for Keith and Cindy’s pump house. We finally got back to our little RV just after dark. A long, but adventurous day!
