Okay, Rascal isn’t quite as big as Clifford, but he’s only 5 months old this week and will get much bigger. We’ve been told that this breed (3/4 Maremma, 1/4 Great Pyrenees) is bred for protection of livestock and will take on and intimidate coyotes, mountain lions, bears (black and grizzly), but not wolves, since they hunt in packs. But he’s as gentle as can be, loves to be petted and scratched, and has already learned to follow along when we go for walks around the property without a leash. He’s in a kennel (10×10, so not small) at night because he’s still too small to protect himself adequately. In the daytime, he roams around the property freely.
